Feeling reminiscent tonight as I think back on what a wonderful childhood I was given....it truly was a gift. My parents, along with parents everywhere worked so hard to make sure we were carefree, safe, happy, and presented with experiences that would make a wonderful life for us. It seems so hard to do this now that I am a parent myself....I don't know how to do what my parents did for me, but I hope each day my little one creates a sweet, loving memory that she can tuck in her heart for safekeeping and pull out when she needs a smile or a hug. I just want her to know how much she was loved as I do now so many years later. The memory that is floating around in my mind tonight is that of my mom sending me off for a picnic with my neighbor friend Justin...he lived across the street and we were the best of buddies growing up. I had a sandwich with bologna and mustard---a fave of mine then, definitely not now :), a baggie full of grapes and a juice to take as we headed out into the fields to bother the cows, watch the butterflies, and explore. I know I loved days like this and the funny thing is, is that looking back I can see my little one right there with me doing exactly the same thing I did and loving it as much as I did. I love how life brings us full circle...I am also thankful my life has been pretty gentle. Of course I have had my major bumps and life has brought me to my knees in tears and prayer and will continue to...but for the most part, it has led me gently along to where I am today.
A little of this and a little of that tonight. Just for fun....and because I finally have a chance to play with the Pink Paislee Tinsel Town paper I've been hoarding now that Christmas is over :)---it always works out that way doesn't it? One of my most favorite things to do with chipboard is to run it through my sewing machine....I can't NOT do it now....you'll be hooked once you try. And a sweet Maya Road treasure or two here as well....love that darling felt flower and sequin trim.
This card was created for Provo Craft and uses some beautiful Basic Grey Wassail paper that I am finally finding time to use now that Christmas is over....oh...I said that earlier in my post about some other beautiful Christmas paper, didn't I? It's wonderful how versatile these lines are though....I'll use them til the scraps are gone, I will! I used my favorite Cuttlebug butterfly die and embossing combo here along with a Cuttlebug Script Texture folder and Typerwriter alphabet set. Ohhh these things are so much fun....thank you, thank you for the embossing trend...it's a good one.
And lastly... A fun little pocket card that contains a tag that pulls out from the top. It's a tab cut using the Fabulous Finds Cricut cartridge that I enlarged and secured on the left with a big bow. I used Creative Imaginations paper to embellish the opening along with my Graphically Speaking cartridge for the sentiment and floral accent and a bunch of glitter....black glitter....it's messy, but a beautiful kind of messy, which means that it's ok :)
It's bedtime here...good night and good morning to ya.
