I'm back today with a few completed pages from my "work in progress". I must tell you that I experience times of major creative burn-out which are accompanied by lack of creativity, doubt, lack of interest, etc....I have forgotten how very therapeutic it is for me personally to create something for myself...no restrictions, no "do's or don'ts"...no limits. By starting on my pretty little house album, I have been invigorated in ways that I appreciate so much...new ideas have started flowing my way, the desire and excitement to create is back, and the joy that comes through creating something with my hands is felt again...so happy... Do you go through this too?
I'd love to share a few pages with you....I'm far from done, but so happy that I have this little gem waiting for me each day to pour my heart and soul into.
I've got more details and supplies used for this album listed on the Maya Road blog today.
Hope your Wednesday is beautiful and bright.
Thanks for your visit.
Melis

Melissa; you are amazing. I just love the things you make. It's a daily and great pleasure to visit, see and read your blog. I wrote it before....Thank you for sharing all those beautiful things. Most of the time I am creating cards, but last month I was asked to create something completely out of my usual realm. It was daunting, but once I started, the joy and excitement were overwhelming! It's led me to an entirely different area of creativity - I am so thankful for that! Here's the project: http://dylanbugdesigns.blogspot.com/2010/03/cigar-box-project.html

In true 'Melissa Fashion' ... simply stunning!!! I want one!! And to answer your question, yes, I do go through periods of creative slump -- I can only imagine with your heavy DT schedule that your's is much greater. Not to fret ... we all {love} every morsel that comes out of your design studio :)

This is wonderful, Melissa! I love the colors together and all the goodies you embellished it with. I have days where I just don't have the inspiration to get anything accomplished and others where I feel like I just can't stop. I love visiting your blog and you are wonderful! :)

Such a lovely book and the colors are so delightful, as always. I know exactly what you mean about creative burn-out; sometimes I feel a whole day has been wasted because I don't know what direction to go in and just sit and stare at my supplies. Other times I have so many ideas I don't know which to start first and that too, stifles my productivity. Then there are the times I am so in love with a certain paper or accessory that I can't bring myself to use it until I have come up with the "perfect" project for it, so it just sits there unused; that hoarding attitude also seems to kill my creativity. But as you well know, the moments pass and then the creative spirit comes back in full force and we are happy once again!

What a great project!!!! As usual it is fabulous! I do know what you mean about burn out and doubt. I have thoughts like that and then I look at your blog. I hope you realize how much your projects inspire all of us. Keep up the good work and know we all love you and your story. Thanks so much.

This is just stunning, Melissa!! It is going to take me ages to look at it and take in all the tiny details. So pretty. Is that the American Crafts flower trim you've used? I have been scouring the web for it for weeks...lol...thanks for sharing your creativity..Stephanie x

Absolutely stunning Melissa! and I totally hear ya on the creativity burnout thing.. I kind of compare it to my oldest son complaining about the books he is assigned to read for school - they might be the most interesting, fabulous stories to read.. but once they become a "must do" instead of something to do for pure pleasure... some of the joy is gone. I think it's the same way with DT work... no matter how much I am in love with the product, some days it just feels like "work"... thankfully, those periods usually pass relatively quickly. One sure way I have found to help spark my creativity is to visit your blog for inspiration :)

Hi Melissa: Ever since I found your blog I've been checking back to soak up your marvelous creations! Your love of home and family certainly shows through. I find your "creamy" style (with just enough color) so pleasing to my eyes. Thanks for sharing your talent.

When I'm in a creative slump I go to your blog and enjoy the eye candy, and read the things you share about your family, and just sigh...sometimes I get the urge to make a few more cards ~ then other times it's just relaxing to look at your creations (over and over again). Thank you for the e~joy you bring! and a special thank you for taking time and answering my private email. Love U Melis...

Melissa,
You always amaze me with your talent and your sweet view of life and family. I just love it. You must be a very sweet person in real life!
I know what you mean when you have low or no mojo. I go through it a lot. I feel guilty when I do because I am blessed with a new craft house in my backyard and feel like I should be creative all the time. I'm trying to cut myself some slack and just do whatever I feel like doing.
Love..love...love the book! Can't wait to see more.
take care,
Debbie Reaves

As Usual, Beautiful!! Melissa.... My son is in the US and he is going to bring some of those little albums back for me. I recently did something for me ... I started a blog.... I follow you regularly and it would mean so much if you could stop by sometime and maybe leave a comment - if you like what you see that is.. Thanks X

This is just absolutely beautiful and so uniquely you! I get a thrill from creating something I like, just as you do, and often my creative slump happens when I haven't crafted in awhile, or when I want to start a project but don't know how to start. You're pretty inspiring tho!
