I love July...it's always been one of my most favorite months. You see, my birthday is this week, and while that isn't all that exciting now, I have the best memories of my birthday as a child. My older brother was born 4 years and 1 day earlier than me...so we always shared our special day together...this would probably bug most children, but I adored him...still do, and loved sharing my birthday.
I also remember the homemade double decker chocolate cake that my mom would make...one for him, one for me....she'd write our names on top and decorate them in our favorite colors...complete with candles. Then, my parents would pack us all up and take us up American Fork canyon to our favorite picnic spot and we'd have dinner and chocolate cake. What I wouldn't give for a birthday just like that.
I also have always loved celebrating my birthday along with the 4th of July excitement....the parades, the fireworks, the BBQ's...it made my special day even more memorable.
So....seeing as how I have so much to be happy about...I thought it would be a perfect time for a little giveaway...a birthday giveaway! Here is what I have to share with you...thanks to my sweet sis-in-law Claire...made by her crafty hands...

Here are two things that evoke the feeling of comfort in me...for me, they go hand in hand...two things I love...a place I call a retreat...my most favorite room accompanied by something warm to wrap up in....something with a history and story to tell...something that looks even more beautiful with age...something with character and love to offer...my bedroom and quilts...how I love them both.
If my husband would go for it....this is how our bedroom would look....truly, I don't see what the big deal is...do you? I'd even let him leave his muddy, hunting boots right by the bedside.
Something so beautiful and serene about white with a small bit of red mixed in...he might go for this...
Getting closer...oh, so warm and inviting....now for a fire in the fireplace...and a good book...and some See's chocolate...

While I love my bedroom just the way it is....I know as soon as I've saved up my pennies, that I'll transform it once again....it's too fun not to.
