I was so excited when asked to be part of Paper Crafts Magazine Card Style special issue....it was a dream come true to be assigned to create cards in my favorite style, that of Shabby/Vintage. I pulled out all the stops and used all of my favorite embellishments, papers, vintage finds, and toppings on each card.
Now that the issue is on stands, I have been pouring over all of the creativity that jumps from each page....so much fun to celebrate card-making in various styles....there are things I love and want to try as I explore each style, but for some reason, my fingers, my heart, my mind...all pull me in the direction of the Shabby/Vintage style. This shabby, little card was created just for you, in celebration of this special issue.
To me, the Shabby/Vintage style feels like home....like a warm, cozy blanket wrapped around me...like soft, pink slippers on my feet...I don't know why this style speaks to me like it does, perhaps it's because it gives me a chance to celebrate all the things I love wrapped up in one special package...and it all comes tumbling out in the form of aged, weathered, loved, timeless, sparkly, tea-stained goodness...I can't try to explain....I just know I dream in shabby :)
If you're on the hunt for more inspiration, I would love to point you in the direction of the next Mystery Blogger celebrating this special issue who has created a special card in her own wonderful style. Click on the image below and off you go!
Also, be sure to visit the Moxie Fab World Blog and the Paper Crafts Connection to learn how you can earn 20 chances to win a prize package valued over $350.00. All you have to do is comment on each of the 18 mystery blogs, including mine, and on the two I mentioned above. Three winners will be chosen.
So....tell me, what style inspires you...what style are you drawn to....do you create in the style you love, or do you create what comes most naturally? I'd love to know.
Thinking shabby thoughts...thanks for your visit!
Melis

My favorite style is classy & elegant. However, I mostly create with what comes on hand!

I am a fun & cute girl and that is naturally my style...if I try to create in other styles it takes me forever and I have a hard time with them...

I'm another shabby/vintage soul, Melissa. I've tried to be clean and simple, but it doesn't work! Today I bought some vintage glass buttons...a bit of a polish and they will add some sparkle to my cards! I wonder who they belonged to in the past....love your card as always! Stephanie :)

I love most styles but tend to gravitate towards the classy/elegant for my own creations. Sometimes, i dip my toe into the shabby vintage too i suppose. :-D

Beautiful!!! Love this style!

I love folk art, my background stamps, sweet images, gingham ribbon, and vintage buttons..so my style falls somewhere in the middle of all of that! I know for sure that when I try to create something that doesn't include one of things, something stops "flowing"!

This is stunning. I think I'm most drawn to the clean and graphic, with fun and cute a close second.

I am drawn to shabby and vintage but I create in classy and elegant because it comes naturally for me. Great card.

I love fun & cute and tend to make those most often. But I love that I can do things not quite my style, that I still love, by using someone else's example. :)

Beautiful card Melissa, you are the shabby Queen. I usually design cards that I would classify as elegant and classy, but I am attracted to shabby designed cards, they are just not my natural flow.

I adore your shabby style, but I can never pull it off myself! I tend to create in a mix of classy & elegant and clean & simple, but I find inspiration in all styles!

When i'm in a hurry I definitely go with what I know ... clean and simple. I love to try my hand at the more involved styles (shabby and classy) when I haved time. Thanks for all the tips for making the creative wing-stretching possible!

I am most inspired by shabby vintage, but it does not come easily for me. I love your description of this style. I feel the same way, so why does it seem so difficult? Your card is so lovely; thanks for the inspiration!
