home...

I love the word "home".  It is one of the most beautiful and meaningful words used today...it means so many things to me and is a place where I feel comfort and peace, is where I can be myself and feel loved, happy, content, inspired, safe, and many other things.  It is something I appreciate and am thankful for every day...a little haven I call my own.

I was sent a few sweet glass domes from Melissa Frances recently and have been so excited to create a little something with them.  They come in three different shapes and are just the right size for a perfect accent in your craft room or special nook and cranny in your home...they are darling.  I can't wait to try another!

I propped a shabby blue, speckled egg on top of a vintage wooden spool, gave the egg some silver wings and a crown, and made it a special little home tucked under the protective glass dome.

I perched the sweet glass bird on top of the dome and nestled it in a double bow tied from Vanilla Bean scrunched seam binding.

the best part...

Christmas was wonderful and special and memorable for so many reasons.  I'm so thankful to have had my sweet parents here, to get to see all of the beautiful new babies born into my family over the last few months, to get to see how the older babies have grown...and their mama's too, to have time to slow down and soak in the moments that make Christmas so sweet, and now, to have my little one home with me...some days all to myself (which are my favorite).  I can't get enough of my growing little beauty.  I love having her around to care for, to remind me it's time to stop and just be together, to play with, and to listen to.  Christmas break has been a gift in itself.  I could never have enough time with her.

I'm just a little bit happy to put the reds and greens away for another few months and rediscover my favorite colors once again.  I find it refreshing and fun and inspiring and have a new desire to create again, which feels so good.

Today's card uses Prima and My Mind's Eye paper, a Prima chipboard piece, a Maya Road flower, scrunched seam binding from My Craft Spot, and Papertrey Ink stamps, Background Basics:  Hearts and Tag-Its #11.

My mom is such a wonderful gift giver...always so thoughtful.  This Christmas was no exception as she gave me a beautiful silver frame with pre-printed quotes I can switch out...the most wonderful reminders sitting right in front of me where I can see them throughout the day.  I would love to share one quote with you:

wishing you the merriest...

Happy Christmas Eve!  I love this day...my little one is still tucked in snoozing, the house is quiet, I'm ready to start cooking for our big dinner tonight, a few gifts need to be finished, but I am ready to celebrate and enjoy this wonderful time of year.  We are anxiously waiting for some very special people to arrive that we love very much...grandma and grandpa.

I created a few quick and easy Christmas tags using some of my most favorite Crate Paper supplies, paper, chipboard, and fabric brads, and Papertrey Ink Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers stamp set, ribbon, and Mega Mat Stack 1 and Tag Sale #5 dies.  

Lots of sparkly Doodlebug gems and that's all there is to these little fun ones.

I created a coordinating pocket to hold them in using a glassine bag and more Crate chipboard and stickers.

winter birds...

I have  put together a sweet, glittery Winter Bird kit containing all sorts of fun elements to use in your scrapbooking, card-making, and home decor.  I have a few of them listed in my etsy shop and they are ready to ship.  

So many of my favorite Melissa Frances beauties are included such as glass birds, nest, bottle brush trees, tinsel, crepe paper garland, flashcards, tags, and pom pom trim, Maya Road wood doilies, Kraft snowflake, ticket, and clock die cuts, French postcard, speckled eggs, my own tea stained fabric, etc.

All wrapped up in an egg carton tied with cream lace, wired burlap, hand-crocheted flower by my sweet Mama, trinket pin, and silver doily.

Christmas cookie Sunday...

Oh my!  I can't believe Christmas is just a week away.  I love it when Christmas day falls on a Sunday...a perfect way to celebrate Christ's birth and make this day even more special.  I admit to be completely worn out at this point and very much looking forward to the quiet and calm that happens after presents are open, tummies full, and everything slows down a bit.  I love Christmas afternoon...can't wait for my mom's homemade fudge, cheesball and crackers, and homemade peanut butter cups.  Who needs dinner and that stuff filled with nutritional value :)

I have a few things for you today, this first card uses Echo Park papers and stickers, Papertrey Ink stamp sets including Holly Jolly and Holiday Photo Finishers, and the Simply Chartreuse felt die cut into holly leaves using the Holly Jolly die.  The scrunched seam binding is from My Craft Spot.

Next are a few Christmas treat gift bags I put together using digital images purchased from Iralamija's etsy shop.  Love these sweet Bingo cards.  

The peppermint flowers are dimensional stickers from K&Co....so cute!

Lastly is a project I created for Emma's Paperie and uses a Jenni Bowlin divided box...just love her products.  I filled each compartment with something sparkly and merry.

Well...it seems Christmas cookies of some variety are in order today...my little one and I are waiting ever so patiently for daddy to come home from a busy Sunday of meetings, so we'll get something special ready for him.

dear santa...

So much to share!  Lots of projects created for Emma's Paperie...lots of fun things to shop for...lots of holiday cheer!  

This first project uses oodles of the new Basic Grey Nordic Holiday line and covers a sweet Maya Road chipboard tree album.  

The Nordic Holiday chipboard is the absolute cutest collection I've ever seen...totally endearing.

love & marriage...

Here we are with the second Papertrey Ink group post for December...today focusing on the ever so sweet and lovable, Love & Marriage stamp set.  This set covers the sweet on you, be my Valentine, will you be mine, together forever categories beautifully and I had so much fun jumping into Valentine's day with this project.

I created a pocket full of love notes using Papertrey Ink's Favor It Box 2 die, Aqua Mist cardstock, and a handful of white gift enclosures, each embellished with the new Love & Marriage stamp set, Heart Border die, and Filigree Border die.  I love, love, love this color combination for Christmas, but wanted to give it a test-run for Valentine's Day and yep, sure enough...I love it!

I attached a stamped tag using the 2010 Love Tags stamp set by clipping it on to the favor box with an embellished clothespin.

I used Sweet Blush Satin, Aqua Mist Swiss Dot Satin, and Soft Stone Bitty Dot Satin ribbon to tie around each envelope.  

Sweet Blush buttons, Melissa Frances pom pom trim, and scrunched seam binding from My Craft Spot were also used to embellish each envelope.  

The paper used is from Melissa Frances, Girls' Paperie, and My Mind's Eye and the sweet foil hearts are just treasures from my stash.

rosie posie...

Welcome to the first Papertrey Ink group post for December.  We are featuring the new Rosie Posie stamp set...ummm, it's irresistibly fun...I close my eyes to fall asleep at night and there it is, all of those beautiful flowers in every color of the rainbow....just a little warning.  I love it so!  Nichole asked each of us to create two projects using this set, one using the stamps as a background, and the second, using the stamps as a focal point.  The extra fun came in when she asked us to use inspirational photos for both projects...this could become an addition I tell you!

I chose the above fabric swatch as my inspiration and created a background using the same colors and layered on the flowers and shapes to create my first card.  

I used the coordinating die to cut the stem for the flower and layered it along with a felt flower cut using the new Aqua Mist felt and fun Loopsy-Daisy die.  I twisted each felt strip and attached them in the center for this flower...just fooling around with it a bit and finding lots of variations.  These elements were layered over my stamped background that I later cut using the new Mega Mat Stack 4 die.

I used the Photo Finish Strip die collection and added one more layer where I could stamp my sentiment which is from the Say it With Style stamp set.  

For my second card, I created a focal point using the stamps from this set by using the coordinating dies and adhering them using dimensional adhesive.  Once again I used the Mega Mat Stack 4 die and layered on the elements in a delicious color combination inspired by the fabric swatch below...from the Nicey Jane Heather Bailey collection.

Using the fabric swatches is such an inspiring way to kind of get yourself to head in directions you normally may not go.  I really loved being pushed out of my crazy, ho-hum stamping rut.  I love the combination of Pure Poppy, Lemon Zest, and Sweet Blush with pops of green thrown in.

little princess...

I was asked to create a few projects using the new Papertrey Ink Little Princess stamp set which will be released on the 15th of December.  I was excited to get to use this set as I have a little princess of my own and love making things that remind me of her.  

I created a tag for this first project using the Little Princess stamp set and coordinating die and layered it on a Tag-Sale #4 die.  The sentiments included in the set make it easy to make party invitations, birthday cards, and love notes for your little lady.

I'm happy to show you another little something that will be released on the 15th as well.  A few months back I submitted an idea to Nichole for a fun loopy flower die that would make creating bows and flowers for gifts or cards very simple and quick.  So...meet the new Loopsy Daisy Die Collection.  I created the flower above using the smaller die, newsprint paper, and trim...it came together in minutes.  You'll love how each flower or bow takes on its own personality from shabby to funky, whimsical to elegant...lots of fun to get creative with. 

I used the Little Princess stamp and die collection on this next card and matching envelope to create something suitable for a Valentine or for the newlyweds.  You can see peeks at the new Love & Marriage stamp set here as well.  

I used the Edgers #3 die on the bottom of the card cut from Vintage Cream cardstock, followed by the castle all dressed up in pinks and reds with a Fresh Snow Topnotch Twill bow to finish it off.

I added glitter to the hearts shaped windows and tied a tag stamped with a sentiment from the Love & Marriage set to the center of the bow.  You can see in the background a stamped heart with beautiful script running across it...also from the Love & Marriage set.  

The coordinating Vintage Cream envelope uses the sweet castle across the base stamped in pink from the solid image and red from the outlined image.  I die cut a tag to attach to the front using the new Layerz Mat Stack 4 die and stamps from the Love & Marriage, Tag-Its #11, and 2008 Holiday Tag sets.  

Lastly...I was having visions of gingerbread houses with this one as Christmas is right around the corner and I wanted to create something in a holiday theme.    I used the new Little Princess stamp set along with the Candy Cane Christmas set.  

The card was made using Vintage Cream cardstock and the new Mega Mat Stack 4 and Layerz Mat Stack 4 dies.  The glittered roof tops are made from Vintage Cream felt topped with white glitter.

I attached holly berry leaves cut using Simply Chartreuse felt and the Holly Jolly die collection and then added a row of hearts cut using the new Heart Border die and Pure Poppy felt.

pocket full of christmas...

Just sharing a few Christmas-y, sparkly, festive-ish things with you today.  I created an assortment of tags made on bases like recipe cards, envelopes, and chipboard, and added in all sorts of things I love to top them off.

I pulled out my favorite Melissa Frances cardstock stickers and chipboard, tea-stained fabric, and envelopes.

The base for this tag is a Melissa Frances chipboard snowflake painted and then covered in glitter with a doily and cardstock sticker as the background.  Melissa Frances pom pom trim was used around the outside edges.

This tag was made on an old recipe card and uses a Melissa Frances cardstock sticker and resin applique,  and Papertrey Ink stamp sets including Holly Jolly and 2008 Holiday Tags.

Another tea-stained recipe card and some old chipboard letters I found hiding in my stash...they are by Rusty Pickle....how I loved Rusty Pickle.

This tag was built on another recipe card and uses Melissa Frances paper and flashcard, Tim Holtz metal bookplate that has been painted and covered in glitter.

Lastly, this tag was made on an envelope and is covered in Melissa Frances paper, a Tim Holtz ticket stub, vintage bottle cap, and some trimmings.

The scrunched seam binding is all from My Craft Spot and the twill tape was stained here at home.

up on the rooftop...

Good Monday morning!  It's a crummy, blustery, frigid day outside today, but it's wonderful and cozy inside.  I force myself to go outside every morning for a run...rain, wind, snow, or anything in between.  I crave it and need it and kind of despise it all at the same time, but am happy to be back inside, refreshed and ready to get busy. I'm feeling the Christmas love today, how about you?

This morning I have a couple of sparkly cottages to share with you.  This first in creams and reds using paper from Echo Park and Webster's Pages with a bit of vintage sheet music mixed in.  

I used old bottle caps and German Santa scraps to peek out from under the eaves.

A few treasured embellishments I have been holding onto for a few years.

A die cut from K&Co. and plastic doily flower from Jenni Bowling, not to mention a healthy dosage of chunky Martha Stewart glitter.

This next cottage was done in pale creams, whites, and pinks using Melissa France 5th Avenue paper and ledger from 7Gypsies.  I used Papertrey Ink's Home Made and Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers stamp sets, vintage embellishments, more glitter of course, trinket pins, and tea stained twill.

comfort, cookies, and chowder...

Three of my favorite words at the moment.  I have a pot of Cheesy Vegetable Chowder simmering on the stove, warm cookies waiting to be frosted, Buttery Parmesan Knots rising, and my favorite little person keeping me company.  There is something so delicious about caring for someone else, meeting their needs, creating an atmosphere for them where comfort is felt...reminds me of how I felt growing up and being cared for by the most wonderful mama a girl could ever wish for.

This first card was created for Emma's Paperie and is based on a sketch there.  I've found myself reaching for the red checked gingham print over and over the last couple of days...by far my most favorite holiday pattern to play with.  It's from My Mind's Eye and can be found HERE, and a complete supply list can be found HERE.  

This last card uses PSA Essentials stamps  from the North Pole collection and a vintage image from Crafty Secrets Retro Christmas collection.  The scrunched seam binding is from Memriemare.
