Good morning! Today it's my turn for Papertrey Ink's Newsletter Tips & Tricks. I've put together a couple of projects that are all about shimmer, shine, & metallics.
It seems lately I can't stop using my silver and gold embossing powders. I love the elegant look metallics add to paper-crafting projects. They can go anywhere from trendy and graphic to vintage, classic, and timeless and you'll find that using a little metallic here and there adds just the right touch for so many occasions.
I combined my three favorite metallic embossing powders along with Papertrey Ink's Mehndi Medallion stamp set to create an elegant background with plenty of shimmer.
I began by stamping my medallion images randomly on a large block of Vintage Cream cardstock using watermark ink. I then coated the watermark images with either silver, jeweled gold, or gold embossing powders and then heat embossed the images using my heat gun.
I then cut a 1 1/2" strip from the embossed images and attached it down the left edge of a vintage cream card base.
Using the Tag Sale #4 and Limitless Layers 2 1/2" Circles dies, I created a layered focal point for my card. I stamped the vellum Limitless Layer 2 1/2" Circle using the Mum's the Word stamp set and white embossing powder.
I then layered my stamped vellum circle, over the vintage cream circle, and then attached both to the center of the Tag Sale #4 cut from White Shimmer cardstock.
Before adhering the tag to the center of my card, I stamped the stem and leaves (from Mum's the Word) using Soft Stone ink and the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink from the Embellishments stamp set. I then tucked in a bit of trim near the top of the stem, and tied a double bow at the top of the tag using White Silk ribbon.
Before attaching my tag to the card, I attached a strip of sheet music patterned paper and a strip of gold ribbon down the front of the card, leaving just the ends peeking out from under the tag. I finished with just a bit more shimmer by adding gold sequins and a couple of tiny adhesive pearls.
With the remaining block of Mehndi Medallion embossed cardstock, I decided I'd create a fun package. I think that metallics look so beautiful with Kraft, so I began with a small Kraft box. I then used the Seeing Stars dies and die cut a few stars from my embossed cardstock, and a few from vellum.
I stacked the stars on top of each other followed by a large sequin and added them to my package. It is wrapped in book print paper, vintage trim, Freckled Fawn metallic washi, and assorted ribbon. My sentiment is from the Mini Blooms stamp set and is stamped on a Tiny Tag. The tiny star sequins are from the fun new Make It Market: Shakers + Sprinkles kit.
So, mix things up a bit...add some shimmer and shine with metallic embossing powders and other accents. You'll be hooked just like me.
Thanks for visiting.
