Can you believe we're talking about making Valentines? I kind of love the thought, I'll be quite honest with you :). My love for card-making began with scissors, glitter, glue, and construction paper hearts when I was in Kindergarten.
Today's Papertrey Ink group post is a fun one...showcasing a couple of new stamp sets and their dies that will make creating Valentines with the littles in your life easy peasy! I filled a jar with conversation hearts and then created a pocket tag that could contain a handwritten note, sucker, pencils, etc. I've used the darling new Dress Up Dolls: Puppy Love stamp set and dies on my tag.
There are lots of ways to involve kids in this process. Think about the little things, such as glueing the pocket to the front of the tag, coloring the shirt, skirt, flower, and shoes, threading the button and tag, etc. Let them choose the colors and even help with the stamping...my daughter started helping me stamp when she was just little and I loved her creations. On the top of my jar I used the Limitless Layers: 2 1/4" Hearts and Stitched Hearts.
The new To Have & To Hold stamp set was used across the bottom of my card and to create the flowers in her hair. My pocket tag was created using the Stitched Tag and the Monthly Moments: Journal Card 6 dies. I stamped my sentiment on a die cut Tremendous Tag.
I used the new Jump for Joy stamp set and dies on my next card, creating a sweet, interactive bunny. The recipient simply pulls down on the twine and the bunny's arms and legs move...so fun!
I stamped in Lilac Grace, Lovely Lady, and Stormy Sea and used Lavender Moon Stripe paper. The bunny's body was cut from Vintage Cream felt and I would highly recommend lining the back with cardstock so that you create a nice, sturdy base for you to attach the limbs with brads. A sturdy base will allow you to tug on the string and get great results, as opposed to only using a felt layer....learned that the hard way :). The heart cut out from the body uses the Seasonal Stitching: Eggs die.
And for my pull, I used a small heart die I had and stamped it with the "pull" stamp from the Jumping for Joy stamp set.
How fun, right?
If you happen to be visiting here from the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog, I promised I'd share something "sweet" today and I've got just the thing. My mom would make delicious Pumpkin Cream Cheese Rolls each Christmas when I was a girl and I thought they were straight from heaven. Not only did the taste amazing, they were beautiful to look at too! We all must have this recipe, so I'm sharing it here. Click on the link above to see my favorite recipe. Can't wait to make one next week for our Christmas celebration. Makes such a great snack, but I'd eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Christmas day if I could :). Oh, and I like to make my cream cheese filling with mini Ghirardelli chocolate chips....I highly recommend trying this.
If you haven't yet found your way to the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog, you must visit right away! They are in the middle of their 12 Days of Holiday Giving and I have a little Christmas project on their blog today plus there are giveaways waiting for you!
