where are you beauty...

Isn't beauty everywhere?  I love discovering it as I walk my little one to school each morning, take a drive in the mountains, here a song that makes my heart leap, or get kisses unexpectedly from the bean, or in simple, kind acts from others.  Children are filled with it naturally and have a way of making me see life so clearly. 

One quick in and out post for you today.  I created this card using so many of my favorite things...I love it when things I love work together like magic.  I made this using the sketch from the CPS blog this week.  Our sponsor is Cornish Heritage Farms and they sent the most beautiful stamp sets called Ornamental ScrapBlock and Ornamental Beauty...I love 'em.  I also used some more pretty, pretty things from Prima including paper from their Sew Cute collection...it looks like canvas and has stitching already on it....so fun.  The flowers are also from Prima and have been coated in Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels in Rose Tea and Coffee Shop.  The chipboard piece is also from Tattered Angels and has been distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink from Ranger and coated with Mica Flakes.  I used Melissa Frances paper, cardstock sticker and resin accent as well.

I hope you are all off to a great start this week.  I don't know when I'll be back...I may have a scheduled post for you in a day or so, but as of now, I'm packing and my little family and I will be setting out tomorrow for California.  I am getting so excited to meet some of you and make new friends and teach my shabby little class at Reflections 2009.  I'll be sure to give you a full report when I'm back.  For now, forgive me if I've ignored some of your emails.....I will settle into my normal routine when back and will be sure to catch up.

Now, off to clean...for some crazy reason, I have to leave my house tidy before I can go away...I like to come home to it nice and comfortable and ready to greet us :)  Loves to you all.

One word to describe my weekend....it's was wonderful, brilliant, just right.  I discovered that my little buddy loves chic flicks of the same nature as I do....I kept plugging in Pride & Prejudice throughout the weekend, in hopes that I might actually get to watch the whole thing....catch onto the language, etc....and was so happy to note that my little one was entranced the whole time....I see many mommy and Sierra movie nights in our future.  Yesterday my husband whispered to me to go up to her room and see what she was in the middle of.  I peeked in and saw her in her most beautiful dress-up gown, her pearls, and her sweet little elegant dress-up gloves (just like in her new movie) curled up on her bed reading....ohhhh...the sweetest sight I tell you.  Life is good....busy, but wonderful. 

I have a fun project to share with you today. Prima Marketing Inc. and Tattered Angels are teaming up for a fun blog relay.  Today is my day to share a little something with you created using products from both of these wonderful manufacturers.

  I enjoyed creating this little card so much.  I used Prima's Screen Printed Cardboard Paper here, distressed it a bit and shabbied it up.  The flowers are also from Prima and were coated in Blue Skies and Antique Brass Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels.  The sweet chipboard owl is from Tattered Angels Creme de Chocolat collection and coated with Antique Brass Glimmer Spray and a bit of white glitter.  The trim along the bottom edge is also from Prima...and I *heart* it...isn't it sweet?

nuffin' like a muffin...

Hello Spring...hello flowers...hello birds and friends.

I found this quote this morning....love it because it is how I feel.  It seems that whatever season we are in...it's my favorite.

I do love my Spring weather....but the colors and smells of Fall...and soup on the stove....the sun that warms me through and through in the Summer...and then of course Winter with it's holiday cheer...I could never choose, but today I love Spring :)

I'm popping in quick as a wink today...so much to do....can't wait for life to slow down just a bit.  Lazy Summer days, swinging in the hammock, reading stories to my little one with our bare feet buried in the green grass, sounds heavenly.  But I don't want to wish my days away...each one is wonderful and there will never be another day like today.  Loving my Melissa Frances stash....I used Melissa Frances paper, tag, gems, and chipboard wings here along with Basic Grey and k&Co. rubons and dimensional sticker.   This new little paper bag card base is a new love for me.  A while back I was sent some goodies from Worldwin Papers....and I have been itching to use one of these darling card bases for a while and had such fun with it yesterday. 

And...a couple more peeks at the class I'll be teaching at the Reflections Event next week. 

Let's see....T-Ball tonight, some snuggles and homework this afternoon, perhaps a Popsicle or two.  Off to get busy.

fat boys and push pops...

It's time for ice cream treats once again :)  We had a little friend over yesterday....this mommy had to stop at the grocery store...and I knew I was in for some trouble as my 2 little shadows came along....but when I saw their little noses pressed up against the ice cream treat freezer....I was a pile of mush and let them pick whatever their little hearts desired :)    These simple pleasures brought back so many sweet memories for me...I couldn't resist.  I scooted them out the back door with their chosen treat, watched them plant themselves on the stairs, and listened to them chatter about all things important to a 5-year old.  I enjoyed each moment...so thankful that life is so wonderful and simple for them.  No worries except for what kind of ice cream treat to choose and what their going to play as soon as their treats disappear :)  I remember those days, don't you?

i love you spring...

sigh...it's beautiful, balmy, sunny, spring-y, and green here today.  I feel badly for complaining about the snow we had the other day that just happens to contribute to making everything so green....but today, my windows are open, I have short sleeves, no socks, my favorite Mary Janes, and I can smell DIRT :)  I love the way things smell when the earth starts warming up.  My husband loaded us into the truck yesterday evening and we took a ride down the canyon...it was glorious, everything was beautiful...a carpet of green...smells of  Mother Nature were everywhere....the birds were singing, our windows were down, we were smiling, and happy to be together.

So much is happening in my normally uneventful life right now....building a house, selling a house, getting ready for the Reflections Event, working on some exciting projects....I'll share as much as I can when I can.

One little item or two for you today.

this, that, and then some...

Crazy mixed up post...feeling out of sorts and this post will attest to that :)  It snowed...I had just packed up all of Sierra's warm things...finished off the fire wood...and wouldn't ya know....now I'm out of sorts.  My little one is all the way back to normal, and I'm sitting here laughing at what I'm hearing....at the moment she's a puppy...barking on her hands and knees as she moves about the house...every once in a while she finds me and licks my leg, or chews on my pants....sigh....I'm so glad I have her to keep me grounded...

So...how's about a little something cheery first?  Aren't these the cutest little umbrellas ever?  Little Miss Dawn Mc"crafty"Vey created this adorable new stamp set called Scattered Showers for Papertrey Ink...I love 'em, yes I do...I thought they'd make a cute gifty sewn onto a seed packet and dropped by a friend's house.  You know...perhaps it snowed and it ticked them off and they needed a little cheering up or somethin' like that...who knows?  A girls needs a little pick 'er up from time to time, huh?

This card was created with a Creative Scrap or two from Crafty Secrets...I smile every time I read the captions and sentiment...love the vintage feel...and on a side note, so glad I don't have to wear my pearls and pantyhose grocery shopping :) 

Well...my little pup needs me...we just stuck a carrot cake in the oven for daddy...he's a special guy and gets spoiled tonight...we're even having candles on the cake...you know, any excuse to blow out a candle is a big deal around here.

mother dear...

 I have 2 seconds...then need to kick it in gear today :)  I've got my mom and motherhood on the brain lately....2 very beautiful things, don't you think?  Mother's Day is quickly approaching, so....you may find a few posts in the next little while all about this topic.....truly one of my most favorite things to reminisce about and enjoy.  You see, I've always wanted to be a mommy....now I get to be one....and I LOVE my job and my little boss.  I also just happen to have the sweetest mother ever created :)

 

I created this for the Tattered Angels blog....I used a fun technique involving a Glimmer Screen, Glimmer Mist and fabric for my background....all of the details can be found HERE.  LOVE the beautiful Glimmer Chips all shabbied up and of course, the sweet, vintage image in the background is another Creative Scrap from Crafty Secrets....quite addicting, I must admit.

I'll leave you with another little something to warm your heart and enlighten your mind today...then I get to tackle some household junk :)....I love my job, remember.

let's have a tea party...

In our house, we are big on tea parties...the kind you get all dressed up in your very best princess dress and plastic pearls for....some delightful, cold, clear water is served along with gourmet pretzels, carrot sticks, and sometimes maybe even a cupcake :)

To kick off Papertrey Ink Release night, you're invited to tea and cupcakes...right here...princess dress or not :)  First things first...while I would love to admit frosting these beautiful little cakes...I haven't the slightest idea how to do such a thing...my talented friend did these for a wedding...I just baked 'em...that's all I know how to do...BUT I can eat the frosting like a Pro. :)

I simple ADORE this new stamp set from Nichole called Tea for Two.  I don't think I've ever seen a set as irresistible as this and so much fun to use on top of it all.  I decided to make a cute presentation out of these shabby cupcakes by placing them in a small round clear top tin.  Each tin is wrapped in coordinating paper, tied with ribbon, and then some yummy fabric used in place of tissue paper in order to create a fancy little get-up :)...simple and fun.  My supply list can be found HERE in the Papertrey Ink gallery.  Be sure to check out the other designer's amazing creations...all which can be found HERE.

hugs and honeybees...

It's a new week.....and I have so many of you to thank for your kind, thoughtful, helpful, and supportive comments.  Thank  you, thank you....I feel so lucky to have each of you as friends :)  We are settling into our comfortable routine once again.  Life has a way of making you slow down and simplify from time to time and for that I am thankful.  It's nice to have time to sit and snuggle, nap together, spoil, give kisses and hugs, and let the world pass by for a time.  I'm savoring these times even though I wish I were the one feeling under the weather.

One small sampling today.  I've always had a thing for honeybees and couldn't resist making this fun little card highlighting a favorite image of mine.  I used some fun Papertrey Ink stamp sets on this.  The bee is from the Honey Bees set, and the sentiment is from the Heart Prints set.  I also used Hibiscus Burst grosgrain ribbon, and Aqua Mist Vintage Buttons, along with Lemon Tart cardstock, and True Black ink.  The paper is from Melissa Frances and My Mind's Eye...the cute flowers are from Making Memories, the ticket from Tim Holtz, and then I used a bit of old book print from my stash :)

Papertrey Ink release night is right around the corner....I'll be back at midnight :)

lucky to be loved...

I have so many sweet thoughts on my mind...my little girl seems to bring out the best in me...she makes me want to be better...try harder...be who I have the potential of being....she is powerful at such a young age.  She has been so sick the last few days....another round of painful ear infections...which leads to the possibility of having her little tonsils removed or tubes....my heart grows leaps and bounds as I care for her.  And what makes the biggest impression on me is the fact that there isn't another single soul on earth who can comfort her and make it all better like I can.....only my humble motherly magic.  As her little body twists and grows tired from being so uncomfortable, she is still and quiet and able to sleep peacefully when in my arms....I am the lucky soul who get's to be loved by this beautiful little angel and witness the miracle that she is.  How did I get to be so lucky?  Tonight I hope we'll both get a full night's rest as tomorrow is Easter Sunday and I want her to enjoy it.  So many questions coming from her..."where does the Easter Bunny live?....oh, he must live in the East, right mama?" :)..."how does he get here?....do you think he drives his car, or rides on his scooter, or maybe he hops all the way?"..."will he still find me at grandma's?"...I adore her....absolutely every single inch of her.

One little morsel tonight and then I need to go get her Easter goodies together before I head to bed.  Papertrey Ink supplies uses here are:  Kraft and Lemon Tart cardstock, 2008 Bitty Dot Basics paper,Lemon Tart grosgrain, Dark Chocolate ink, and Bitty Baby Blessings clear stamp set.  Also used here is Jenni Bowlin and Basic Grey paper, Making Memories trim, and Prima flowers.

Hello....happy weekend....hey batter, batter :)

T-Ball season is just about underway here, and so when Nichole challenged the Papertrey Ink Designers to create something with Heather's newest, and sweetest sets called All Star Team and All Star Team Additions...I knew I had to pretty it up for my little girl in honor of her pink batting helmet.

  I am in vintage grunge heaven....truly, I had so much fun with this set...and eating the icing off the top of these cupcakes of course...who really needs the cake, eh?  It's all about the loads of lard on top :)

front door...

I'm so happy today, as I'm heading into the final stretch of my spring cleaning.  My door is ADORABLE....it's the perfect color of red...it says, "welcome home", "come on it", "this is a happy home".  The color is in fact called, "front door"....I'll have to take a picture or two.  We planted our pansies, daisies, and happy little marigolds at about 8:00 in the evening the other night....it was too windy during the day, so we went out late, late, and planted under the moonlight...it was so much fun.  My husband gabbed with the neighbors (my boy can TALK I tell you...he's definitely the chit chatter in our relationship), my little one watered the newly planted flowers, and it was just a perfect night for us.

Today I have a simple hello card for you....using up some KRAFT :) and some of my most favorite stamps from Hero Arts.  They are our sponsor on the CPS blog this week and I am just tickled to be able to participate....LOVE HERO ARTS :)    This card makes me smile this morning....as does this picture of my dream laundry room...

blog hoppin' with pink paislee...

We had the most beautiful April showers here today....I can't think of a more peaceful storm....big rolling clouds...calm and warm....then sweet spring showers to make  everyone happy....LOVE spring rain.

Here is a fun little something or other I created with my Pink Paislee stash and a little metal watering can I've been holding stashing for years...have I ever mentioned that I have an annoying habit of hanging onto things whether or not I use them....oh, how it drives me nutty....but today I was glad I am annoying that way :)     

I painted, I glittered, I sanded, I stuffed, I glittered some more and was so tempted to glitter that darn peep...or spray it with some Glimmer Mist....it's too bright...but, it's a peep, and I felt a little guilty, so it remains untouched...but it still annoys me...I'm anal that way :)

Now, I apologize for what's coming next....the Pink Paislee Design Team was asked to answer a few questions about ourselves....and I really don't like talking about myself much...but I'll do it for the team :)  Feel free to skip to the bottom to see the pretty prize :)

1.) Where did you grow up? Do you still live there?

I grew up in American Fork, Utah....sometimes I wish I still lived there....but I followed my honey to the desert and in the desert I shall stay :)

2.) What is a typical day like for you?

Up at 6:30....get the kiddo ready for Kindergarten...fix a gourmet breakfast of an egg sandwich for the big kid, and eggs and toast for the little one...get the house in order while she's at school...play when she's home....head to the store to work a bit...time to start dinner...off to bed...ready to begin again :)  Fascinating....

3.) What is your favorite fashion accessory? Why?

Not much of a jewelry girl....I wear the same silver earrings everyday...and the same sweet wedding band everyday...and I'm happy.  Watches make me itchy....but I love to shop for them.  Necklaces make me itchy....but I love to collect them...my favorite is my sterling silver moose charm on a necklace from Jackson Hole, WY.

4.) What is playing on your ipod right now?

Gosh, I wonder where my ipod is :)  Too busy to plug it into my ears....but I do love to groove to Alison Krauss and Robert Plant singing, Gone, Gone, Gone :)  Have you heard IT???!!

5.) Name one television show that you MUST TIVO each week?

Sadly, I must admit I'm not a TIVO-er....so I miss many of my favorite shows...BUT if I were a TIVO-er, I'd have to TIVO CSI Las Vegas.....no need to explain why.

6.) What is your favorite movie of all time?

Australia....no need to explain why :)  I adore that movie.

7.) What is your favorite Pink Paislee product?

8.) If you could only keep 1 scrapbooking tool what would it be?

I'd be nothin' without my deco scissors...Fiskars to be exact....they pretty the world up a bit in my opinion.

9.) If you didn't scrapbook what other activity would you spend time on?

Quilting...quilting...and more quilting.  I LOVE to make wall quilts, baby quilts...lap quilts...fabric is like paper to me....it lures me in with it's patterns, textures, beautiful combinations....ohhhhhh....I need to find a fabric shop.

10.) What advice would you give to someone who wants to start scrapbooking?

Enjoy each moment of it...notice how memories flood your mind as you're creating something for someone else or about someone else....scrapbooking is as much about the process than it is about the end result.  Allowing yourself to be creative in any form is a gift to yourself.

11.) What would you say your scrapbook style is today?

I'm a shabby, old, weather-beaten soul....if it's pale, cream, aqua, pink, distressed and stitched, and has a button, trim, some glitter, and a bow....I'm a gonner :)

one good turn...

  April wishes!

I feel completely out of control today....but have a smile on my face as I am actually crossing things off my ever growing list of things to do...always a good feeling.

I'm just about to work on some fun Easter projects for the Pink Paislee blog hop happening on Friday, April 3rd and Saturday, April 4th....15 prize packages will be given away, so be sure to check back.  I'm excited to create today.

I feel like I have oodles to tell you about so let's get started :)

Some fun, spring-y, creative, and adorable new projects are up at Emma's today.  All of the projects this week are workshops, so you can create your own.  Here is mine...easy, quick, fun!
