Well hello there 2010....I'm really excited you're here....last year was one of the best...I hope this year is even better. A fresh start is always a welcome.
I hope you all enjoyed your New Year's celebrations. It was certainly sweet here as my parents came for a good, long stay....for us, to convince them to stay more than one night is a treat for us....and that's just what they did. I have the cutest parents ever....my dad, still so handsome and strong, and funny, and adoring of his little Sierra. My mom, still so beautiful and classy and energetic...more so than me...I love them more than words can express...now they're gone and I miss them. My brother popping in and out as he traveled from Wyoming to hunt with my husband, and then onto his next destination....hopefully next time he'll stay longer and bring his little crew with him. I'm so thankful for my family and this was a perfect start to the new year.
We are lazily napping here today....still playing with new toys....watching endless football games...and hanging on to the last few hours before school starts up again and we have to be responsible.
Some shabby, glittered-up scraps to share with you today....I must tell you that I save bits and pieces of my most favorite papers and trims....sometimes the jumbled up beauty of them is what inspires me...so today, here's what became of them all.
I made a few mini cards with bits and pieces tucked in here and there, and then stored them away in this shabby, little keepsake box. I have had this box sitting and looking at me for years...I created if for the Melissa Frances newsletter many moons ago and decided to go a step further with it and fill if with mini love note cards. Can't have too many love notes, can ya?
That's it for me for today....I'm feeling a nap coming on...have you had one today?
Happy New Year everyone...I'm so excited to bring you some new and fun ideas here on my blog throughout the year. Something fresh and fun coming soon. Hope you'll join me.
Melis

Hello Melis,
I am new to your blog and card making. Your work is stunning. Can I ask a question? Do you make your glitter chip board items or are they pre-made. I love them and would like to find something similar for some of my projects.
Happy New Year- may it bring you peace, love and more wishes granted then your heart can hold.
Blessings,Pea

Dear Melis,
I have been following your blog for a few months now and am amazed at how wonderful your cards and projects are!! You are one of the reasons why I suddenly find that cardmaking is so much more interesting than scrapbooking. Thanks sooo much for your inspiration! I wish you a wonderful new year full of health and happiness for you and your little family - escpecially the little girl ;-)

I have been following your blog for a few weeks now, and I love everything you do! I started buying my Valentine supplies last week, and now you have inspired me! I have had some paper heart doilies sitting around for years and have been wondering what I could do with them. Now I know! Have a great week!

Happy New Year to you and your family! I can't begin to tell you how much I look forward to a new post from you. Your work is perfect and I am sooo inspired by you. I also love how you cherish your family!! Your little one is blessed to have such a loving mommy!

Happy New Year! I like how you used the doily scraps to fill the heart outline. These little mini cards also remind me to pay attention to my negative images. I think using scraps to create with is like a game/puzzle/challenge to see what can come out of the neglected leftovers of other projects. I love your note box! Thanks for sharing, and enjoy these last days before school starts up again.

I used to comment on nearly every post you added. Now I follow so many blogs I just don't have the time! Please know that I adore every project you make. The box in this post is fabulous. And I love that you adore your sweet daughter as much as I adore my Sweet but slightly crazy sons. :) Your breezy, whimsical and conversational writing style makes me smile everytime. Thank you for being my # 1 blogger and inspiring me with every post. I aspire to create things half as lovely as yours. With your work as inspiration, my crafting has improved significantly since I started blogging seriously in the last year. Before that, my blog was little more than a rarely used photo album. Luv ya Melis, Rebecca

Such gorgeous cards! Thanks for sharing. I used your idea for the Christmas tags that you made in October with PTI Holiday Button Bits and glassine bags. I had such fun making them to put on gifts. Thanks for the inspiration! Happy New Year!

Melissa-where do you live? When I was a young girl my father would coal mine in the winter and, to support our summer vacation, we would leave for Montana or Nevada in the spring for the sheep shearing. The sheep in your pictures made me homesick for him, although, I agree with you sheep can stink, and they can be oh so frustrating to work with--but late at night their distant voices mingled with a little bell necklace can be very comforting. Sorry to take up your time. I don't know how you young girls get so much done.
Thanks for sharing-Ann
