I love this time of year....the time when I am in constant search of what to do with the heaps of zucchini that keep finding their way to my kitchen...we don't even have a garden, but I have them coming out my ears....I'm very thankful for each one...and am on to another new recipe...Chocolate Zucchini Cake....how can anyone possibly go wrong with this?
My little one has been home with me today....we have 4-day school weeks here, and while I don't agree with the policy and can think of numerous reasons why children need to be in school 5 days a week, I am always happy to have her here with me...she helps me take things at a slower pace....I am learning to put the brakes on my own personal speed and just enjoy the moment...I seem to feel like I need to go, go, go...but today she taught me a new lesson, and I'm thankful for it.
Before I get started on another project or two tonight, here are some peeks at a few items I've just finished up....Birthday Books....they are so much fun to make. Above is the cover of one of them, complete with Crafty Secrets Altered Fairy Scraps and Tattered Angels chipboard, assorted vintage trims and buttons...and below a few pages of the inside...
And...a couple more completed books...
And lastly...a little something created for Emma's Paperie...
The technique I chose to try for this card was adding Glimmer Mist to a resin applique from Melissa Frances....I'm hooked...you can see I added a Glimmer Misted resin wreath to a page in my Birthday Book as well...I love how it acts as a glaze of sorts and seeps into the cracks and grooves....I'm hooked....let me know if you try it, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I have a complete list of supplies and instructions on the above card for you HERE on the Emma's Paperie blog.
I have received quite a few notes asking for a tutorial on my paper bag pockets....as I stated before, the design was not my own....the design belongs to my friend Mish, so before I post a tutorial I'd love to check with her first...I am pro-blogging-politeness :)
However, I would be happy to direct you to a wonderful source for your glassine bag needs...like those I used for the cookies in the paper bag pockets...Papertrey Ink has them in three different sizes....they are perfect.
Enjoy your Saturday...and perhaps a Chocolate Zucchini Cake, huh...don't say no...it's healthy...filled with green goodness, and heaps of chocolate too.
Melis
P.S. For those of you interested in snabbing up one of my Shabby Songbird Card Kits from Frost it Pink, they have been restocked and there are a few available HERE.
Here are images of just a few of the cards I designed for this kit...
you are full of all kinds of politeness, i can just tell :)

Melissa I love those Birthday Books, have you thought about doing a PDF tutorial on them for purchase in your etsy shop? I am sure there would be many people like me happy to pay for a tutorial on how to make them.

I ordered the glassine bags from Papertrey Ink yesterday, Melissa. I want to make some of your paper bag pockets for the ladies in my Bible study class at church. We start our new fall quarter in a few weeks, and I thought those would make a sweet little gift for the ladies. I also ordered the Crate Paper Restoration line, so I just can't wait to get my supplies and get started. I love to make things to give away! It makes me happy to encourage other people with my little cards and crafts. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful creations with us Melissa. I can't come up with these ideas on my own, but I do copy them-not to sell or submit, but to simply share with others from my heart to theirs. I LOVE your blog and appreciate you so much! Thanks! :)

Your birthday books are so fabulous and amazingly detailed. I love to look at the pictures of them and can't imagine how long I'd be looking at the real thing. Gorgeous!

I actually painted a resin garland just the other day with glimmer mist. At first I thought it wouldn't work as the color didn't
'stick' but when it dried I loved it!

Ohhh....such lovely little things you have shared these last couple of posts. Do I detect some BG Curio sweetness on the birthday books? Everything is just exquisite, Melissa!

Loving your eye-candy, as always...
While I'm off checking out your links to the glassine bags, would you consider doing a tutorial on how to make your multi-loop bows? (Such as on your April page here.)
Beautiful work - thanks for sharing!

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes and hope things go well for you and yours. I love your site and do not often subscribe to newsletters and the like though I love altered art, paper etc. I have ordered from you before and love all the ideas you post and blog about and I really love all of your vintage things.
