Today's group post for Papertrey Ink is all about hand-crafted accessories complete with coordinating packaging. Nichole Heady and Erin Lincoln have teamed up for this fun new addition of dies and stamps and I have been having so much fun with them.
I used the new Boutique Accessory Card Die and coordinating Boutique Accessories stamp set to create a handmade pin that can be used on a scarf, purse, sweater, etc. My Boutique Accessory card was cut from White cardstock and stamped in Classic Kraft ink. The wrap was die cut from coordinating patterned paper. For the pin, I began with some vintage trim, Vintage Cream felt, and my Bloom Builders #1 die collection. I ran both the felt and trim through my die cut machine and then assembled the Vintage Cream felt flower. The vintage trim is very delicate and so after running it through my die cut machine, the petals separated from one another which was great as I wanted to adhere them randomly beneath the Vintage Cream felt flower.
The next layer was Vintage Cream felt again, burlap from the Boutique Bargain section of Papertrey Ink, and the Bloom Builders #2 die, the smallest of the trio of dies included in this collection. Both mediums were run through my die cut machine and I gathered them together at once while threading on a layer of thin trim at the same time. This allowed for three layers, puckered together and ready to adhere to the bottom two layers already assembled. All that was left was attaching a pin on the back and embellishing the center of the flower with a flower from the Orchid Flower Resin Collection, available soon in the Boutique Bargains section of the store.
I created a coordinating tag die cut from Kraft cardstock using the Tag Sale #5 die. The "Handmade" stamp along the side of the tag is from the Boutique Accessories stamp set and is stamped in Classic Kraft. I also used the new Boutique Borders: Mother set with the sentiment stamped in Melon Berry, and Cutting Garden stamp set, more vintage trim, and Zing embossing powder in Blush.
Just wanted to show you what I meant by using the pin on a bag or purse as an accessory...a fun way to dress up your gifts or outfit for the day. I attached my handmade flower pin to a small linen bag available in the Boutique Bargains section of Papertrey Ink.
I think that's enough rambling from me for another day. Be sure to stop by and see what the other designers have prepared for you.

Oh Melissa, this is just lovely. I wonder...did you use heat & bond on your felt prior to assembling? I'd love to make one exactly like yours for my grandma (who turns 100 this year)! I'd love to see a video with your creative process. I so love the items you make!!!!
