Today's Papertrey Ink group post focuses on the new Ruby Rose stamp set and coordinating dies. It's a floral lover's dream I tell you. Playful yet very easily dressed up. Each DT member was asked to find inspiration for our projects first and then go from there, creating one card with the stamps in the Ruby Rose set used as our focal point, and the second card using the stamps as a background.
I gathered inspiration for my first card from the photo above, found at funteapartyideas.com. I loved the vertical smattering of elements draped down the rustic wood table, with vintage trims, and mixtures of bold and soft colors added in. Inspiration is everywhere, isn't it?
My color palette consists of Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Hibiscus Burst, and Limeade Ice. The Ruby Rose dies allow you to build and grow your own garden of flowers, so to speak, and I love how unique each combination ends up becoming.
One of my favorite things to cut using my die cut machine and dies is trim and so I've added in a few leaves cut from this element and tucked them under layers of flowers.
The sentiments with their combination of trendy fonts are irresistible.
The inspiration for this second card was gathered from Dottie Angel and one of her sweet and shabby aprons. Oh, how I love Dottie Angel and would love to live in her beautiful, dreamy, patchwork, egg-gathering, apron-wearing world.
I used the Ruby Rose floral stamps to create a background for this card that reminded me of fabric found in a vintage apron. My color palette is Spring Moss, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush, Harvest Gold, and Classic Kraft.
My flower was cut using the largest of the Ruby Rose flower dies and vintage trim. I die cut several layers, folded them into quarters, and then stitched them together. The button used in the center is from the Spring Mix Vintage Button collection. The Vanilla Bean scrunched seam binding can be found at Craft Spot.
Across the bottom of my card I used several strips of coordinating washi tape and the Small Scallop Border die to create a patchwork feel in just the right colors. I have a short tutorial up on the Freckled Fawn blog today showing how to use washi tape along with your dies.
Lastly, my sentiment was stamped onto Rustic Cream cardstock cut using the Mat Stack 6 die. I didn't want to use the complete die, so I trimmed off the excess and just used a partial portion of it for this particular card.
I can't wait to see what the other Design Team members have created to share:
- Dawn McVey
- Betsy Veldman
- Maile Belles
- Jessica Witty
- Cristina Kowalczyk
- Erin Lincoln
- Ashley Cannon Newell
- Heather Nichols
- Nichole Heady
Thanks again for stopping by!
