Hi again. Today's Papertrey Ink group post showcases the new Mighty Oak stamp set and coordinating Cover Plate. These are such beautiful products, perfect for welcoming in fall, but for many other occasions as well. My source of inspiration came from the photo below, a rustic family tree with vintage photos hanging from the branches.
(photo from French Flea)
One day, I would love to make something like this for my wall, but for now, I used it as a starting point for my card. I began by using the Mighty Oak Cover Plate and a paper bag a friend had packaged a gift to me in. I was immediately drawn to the aged, vintage ad look of it and knew it would tie in perfectly with the feel I was trying to replicate. I used spray adhesive and adhered a block of the packaging to a block of cardstock, both cut the same size as each other and of the Cover Plate, in order to create a sturdy base. I then ran them through my die cut machine.
Before adhering the die cut Cover Plate to my Vintage Cream cardstock base, I stamped leaf images from the Mighty Oak stamp set using silver and gold embossing powder and using my die cut Cover Plate as my guide, I stamped the images so they'd show through the openings. I then adhered my die cut Cover Plate.
I used the Mighty Oak Cover Plate a second time using vellum and adhered a few of the leaves, slightly askew to add interest and dimension. My sentiment was stamped on a Tremendous Tag using Vintage Cream cardstock, and then a Tremendous Tag cut from vellum was placed over the top to create softness. I used the Coffee Cozy Details die and Vintage Cream felt to create a heart that would tie in with the sentiment.
For my second card, I used the leaves from the Mighty Oak stamp set and Mighty Oak Cover Plate and after stamping them using Orange Zest, Ocean Tides, Classic Kraft, Smokey Shadow, and Canyon Clay, I layered them over a Classic Kraft felt star cut using the Seeing Stars die.
I used the left over tree from the first card and adhered it to a block of Ocean Tides cardstock embossed using the new Rustic Burlap Impression Plate. You can catch a peek at another new product coming out in a few days, the Notched Stars Banner Die...love, love, love. I used it down the left side of my card, stamped leaf images from the Fall Elegance set in Summer Sunrise, and used the Super Stars Border Die across a portion of the top.
My sentiment comes from the Autumn Acorns stamp set.
I am in the mood for fall, how about you!

LOVE the Mighty Oak card. Great design and that is a cool template. Thanks for the instructions, too. As well, the stamps, colors, die-cuts and designs on your autumn blessings card are terrific, too. Nice work! :)

Love your first tree but I'm amazed at myself I just love the bareness of the second! I love watching the trees change colour in the Autumn, leaves falling but then the bare limbs are left....makes me wish for Spring again! But seriously love all your elements but also think the notched stars banner was the clincher, love stars. Love the real ones too!

Beautiful inspiration for all of us, Melissa. The leaves of the first card stitched remind me of a vintage wedding dress! Love the way you used the leaves in the second card as petals, and then put them on the star. Lovely!

Your white, gold and silver oak looks as if it is floating above the background papers, how genius.
