Hey there! Today I've got a fun Papertrey Ink Tips & Tricks tag set for you...it's all about spring, and all about wings and a great way to celebrate a lovely Friday!
Tags have become my favorite creative outlet lately. I love their size and I appreciate that there are absolutely no rules. So I've gathered together some of my favorite supplies along with choosing a color combination that I love right now, and have a set of tags with wings to share with you today.
I started by die cutting all of my materials. I love creating this way as I enjoy having all of my supplies ready to go, ready to mix and match, to see what fits where, and know what to eliminate as I go along, and then of course to always have a few things left over for my next project.
I've chosen this first tag to walk you through step by step and then will leave it up to you as to what you'd like to create using tags and wings. I used the Tag Sale #9 die, Vintage Cream Linen Cardstock, the Songbirds stamp set, Fine Linen ink, Limeade Ice Bitty Dot paper, Sheer Vellum Basics, and the Life is Beautiful dies to get started.
I stamped my Tag Sale die with an image from the Songbirds stamp set using Fine Linen ink and then distressed the edges of my tag and butterfly dies.
I then added a few flowers using Raspberry Fizz and Simply Chartreuse ink. The flowers are from the Songbirds stamp set and the leaves from the Lovely Laurels Make it Market Mini kit.
I then used a scrap of newsprint or book print patterned paper I had on hand and die cut a Tremendous Tag from it and adhered it to the front of my Tag Sale die.
Next I stamped my sentiment, from the Songbirds stamp set, across the bottom of my tag using Smokey Shadow ink. I then adhered a die cut Beautiful Butterfly die, cut from Sweet Blush Leaves paper. At this point, I clipped my two large Life is Beautiful butterflies down the center and spread them out a bit before adhering them to the backside of my tag. Notice how I mixed and matched my Sheer Basic Vellum patterns. I had these scraps on hand and thought it would be fun to use them up on my tag, even if they didn't match....so much fun:).
All that was left was to embellish the center of the butterfly using Bitty Button Stack dies cut from vintage trim and Vintage Cream felt. I added a bit of button twine at the top and then a few sequins to embellish the centers of my stamped flowers.
Here are the other tags I made using many of the same supplies, just in different ways.
This first tag uses the Limitless Layers: 3 1/2" Oval dies as my tag base.
And this tag uses the Tag Sale # 1 die as my tag base, followed by a scrap of Limeade Ice Bitty Dot paper cut using the Perfect Patches die.
I love this color scheme....it's actually based on my favorite apron my sister-in-law gave me a few Christmases ago.
Sweet and springy...hope you'll allow yourself some time to play along and get creative today!
Thanks for visiting!
Melissa
What a beautiful post, Melissa. I always love your projects, & these tags do not disappoint. The color combination is bright & cheerful (I'd love to see that apron!), & I really like the composition. Now I want to stay home from work & play!

Oooh Melissa, so many scrumptious layers of spring time goodness--just what I needed this morning in east Tennessee where the temperature is in the single digits and more ice and snow is predicted later today.

Beautiful winged tags. I really like the idea of cutting apart the butterflies.
This is also a great idea for fairy wings.
I do it all the time. You always inspire me to create lovely things.
Thank you and God bless.

Wonderful tags! I love your step by step directions and watching the project come alive. This will be a favorite of mine as is the Make it Monday tutorial you did with cover plates. And it's the same color scheme, which I also love. Thanks for taking the time to show us how to create such wonderful items.
