my happy...

It's been such a beautiful day here and my heart is full of happiness tonight as I take a minute to reflect on this sweet little life that I love, the people who have been placed in it to love me and who I love so deeply.  They are my happy :).  

My card is  springing with a bit of happy as well.  I've used the cutest little flair button from the Live Your Fairytale collection from A Flair for Buttons.  My flowers across the bottom of my card were stamped using the Flower Favorites stamp set from Papertrey Ink.  

My die cut flowers were cut using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Blossom die and I've topped them off with a sweet, sugared Rags to Riches flower from Prima.

 And to share little happy with you, here's some sweet news for you shoppers:

Something fresh and full of life on this gloomy, rainy Saturday :).  I actually LOVE a good rainstorm, so in my mind, it's a perfect, gloomy, rainy Saturday.

I created this card for Emma's Paperie and have based it on a sketch you can find there.  It uses beautiful soft, shabby, and sweet Prima products along with some Doodlebug sequins for a bit of shimmer.

Happy Friday!  It's my turn to share with you some Papertrey Ink Tips & Tricks and I hope you'll enjoy what I've prepared for you.

My card today uses multiple border dies to form a fun and creative background.  This is a great way to start experimenting with combining patterned paper and color and using your border dies in a whole new way.

Maybe you've just got one border die...no worries, by using that same die to cut different patterns of paper in a variety of colors, you'll be just fine and will end up with such a fun and unique creation.

Papertrey Ink has a huge assortment of border dies and you can check them all out HERE.  I've used the Filigree, Small Scallop, Eyelet Lace, Heart, Leafy Vine, and Rickrack borders dies on my projects today.

After building my background from my die cut borders, I added a die cut tag, cut using Sheer Basics Vellum, and the Basic Bookmark 2 die.  This created a soft base for which to place my focal point, die cut and stamped flowers using the Brushed Blooms stamp set and dies.  My flowers are stamped in Aqua Mist and Spring Rain, with the leaves stamped in Spring Moss and Classic Kraft.  I added a sentiment from the Petite Pots Anniversary stamp set.  

I first started by choosing a color combination and selecting scraps of paper in the colors I had hoped to use.  I then pulled out all of my border dies and set to work die cutting.

Notice that I have combined florals, newsprint, book print, glittered gold, stripe, polka dot, graph, etc.  I wasn't sure which of these I'd use, but selected patterns that would compliment rather than compete.  The glittered gold serves as a solid and carries a lot of weight, so it brings balance at the center of the line up of borders.  While the pink hearts bring balance near the top...not all the way to the top or it would create too much weight at the top.  

I then narrowed down my choices and adhered them across the front of the card base.  I balanced out the pink heart border with a complimentary pink stripe placed near the bottom.  The newsprint/book prints as well as the aquas are placed far enough apart to create movement and balance so that your eye continues to move instead of getting hung up on a heavy, out of balance spot.

I then trimmed the edges of the border dies extending off the sides of the card and added stamping, bringing in more pattern and balance.

I added Background Basics:  Text Style in Spring Moss at the top...confused at why I stamped in Spring Moss?  To tie in with the Spring Moss I used on the floral bouquet.  And it is such a soft color and print, that I knew it would blend instead of compete.

At the bottom, I added Background Basics:  Super Gingham in Melon Berry to bring in one more pattern and balance out the pinks.

 

The die cut vellum tag allowed me to still show off the background without covering it too much and provided a soft focal point that allowed my bouquet to be set apart from the busy background.

Here's a little bonus project for you, using more of those border dies on a tag.  I didn't cover the entire tag like in the card, but just the base.  I brought in pattern first by stamping my Sweet Blush tag with a floral stamp from the Lovely Layers stamp set using Sweet Blush ink.  Tone on tone stamping is a great way to add pattern without it being too loud or overpowering.  

I then layered on my chosen borders in a combination of stripes, polka dots, and stars.  My sentiment comes from the Lovely layers stamp set as well and is stamped on a Tremendous Tag.

I continued to bring in more pattern with the soft pink block of paper at the top, that was more pink than a busy floral, and in my layered flower.  I used vintage trim as my base, which carries a weight and texture of its own, followed by smaller flowers in coordinating colors with subtle pattern.  I used the Ruby Rose flower dies.  My sweet button in the center is from A Flair for Buttons.

I hope this helps those of you who have been asking about how to combine patterned paper along with stamping.  It can be intimidating, but if you'll allow yourself to play with different patterns, noticing that their placement can either bring balance or lack of it, you'll catch on in no time and become more comfortable with it.

one lovely day...

Hello there!  I have a fun couple of projects to share with you today, using the sweetest of sweet products :).   Behold, Vintage Sweet Treats Flair Buttons from A Flair For Buttons....irresistible!

I have long loved macarons, not because I've actually ever tasted one or anything like that, but because they are soooo cute!   And they come in pink and aqua, and well, you know me....I kind of like pink and aqua.  Anyway, I have a dream, and one day, I dream of eating a pink macaron, while staring up at the Eiffel Tower....dreamy, huh?

So, when Shelley sent me these darling flair buttons, I was instantly in love, and thought about my one-of-these-days, in Paris :).  

I used Sizzix Tags and Hearts dies, washi tape, patterned paper from Prima, trimmings, fabric, etc.

My sentiments come from the Lovely Layers stamp set from Papertrey Ink.

I embossed both tags using different embossing folders, then lightly went across the raised surfaces with light pink chalk ink, and then distressed the edges with distress ink.

So, I've shared my far-fetched dream with you....what is is that you'd love to do one, lovely day?

It's Monday once again and I hope you're enjoying the day.  I had what may be, my most favorite weekend yet, at home with my husband and little girl, busy outside and in, burning weeds, roasting marshmallows, tidying up, riding the horse, riding motorcycles and 3-wheelers, a first violin lesson, enjoying watching my little family just be content and happy all wrapped up in being together.

I treasure the simple things of life and I think my Heavenly Father knew just what we needed and provided such a beautiful few days together.  A great way to start off spring around here.  

I have a couple of projects to share today using contents from my Ballerina Pink Shabby Crafting Kit.  I have a few left in my shop and all you've got to mix in are your favorite stamps, maybe some texture with embossing, etc....just a fun kit with sweet trinkets, trims, and toppings.  I used the Papertrey Ink Flower Favorites stamp set on my card and tag.

The kit comes with a couple of darling Vintage Ballerina Flair Buttons from A Flair for Buttons.  I've used one on my tag and just love it :).

Love this quote...love my home and the sweet people that make it such a beautiful place to be.

Hello Friday!  Hope that wherever you are, you're enjoying a bit of sunshine.  My card today was created for Freckled Fawn and uses their new April OHDEERME Embellishment kit.  I think it's one of my favorites :).

The sweet cloud clip, enamel heart, wood butterfly, and shaped felt sticker are all from the kit.  I added a bit of stamping using Papertrey Ink's new Graceful Greetings stamp set.

special delivery...

I'm up on the Crate Paper blog today sharing the  Crate Paper Confetti love :).  I can't quite get enough of this oh, so sweet collection.

I've put together a fun mailbox and gift tag for the birthday girl using the Sizzix mailbox die and all things Confetti.

I finally broke out my Confetti dies and put together this shabby, eclectic layered flower....love these dies.

I created a tag to coordinate with my packaging that I can either nestle inside the mailbox or hang from the outside.

Aren't all of theses darling Hardware pieces adorable?  I love 'em.

papertrey ink: april...

Today's post will wrap up my projects for Papertrey Ink's April Release.  All of the new products will be available April 15th, at 10PM EST, HERE at the Papertrey Ink store.

My first card uses the fun new Enclosed:  Apple stamp set and coordinating die.  I love creating apple, school, and teacher related cards.  Something about them that always makes me reflect on being a schoolgirl myself :). 

Across the bottom of my card I used the new Moments Inked:  Edges die and to accent, I used the stamp set from the Make it Market Mini Kit:  Wee Folk.

Inside I finished that card with a stamped sentiment from the Tucked In:  Thank You stamp set.  On this card and you'll notice on many others, I've used the fun Chicken Scratch Gingham Paper Collection...my new favorite love right now :).

The Petite Places:  School stamp set was used on this card.  I combined it with the older Spring Hills and On the Farm stamp sets.

Betsy has thought of all of the tiniest details in this set, such as the flag pole, picket fence, school bell, even a slide.

The beautiful new Floral Favorites set was used next....LOOOOVE!  

I always love 2-step stamping and this set is just gorgeous.  Love the sentiments too.  Very thoughtful.

Graceful Greetings is up next.  Such a great go-to set to have for lovely sentiments that are large enough to be the focal point.

And I'm crazy about the beautiful flowers that are available with this set too.

Lastly is the new Lunchbox Love stamp set, with the kind of sentiments I will enjoy using for my schoolgirl.

 

Super playful and very versatile, with sentiments for the ups and downs that our kiddos large and small may go through.

It's been such a fun month.  What will you be picking out for yourself?  Are you a floral lover and can't pass those sets by, or maybe you're all about the new dies....tough choices, for sure.

introducing make it market mini kit: wee folk...

I am in LOVE!  The new Papertrey Ink Make it Market Mini Kit:  Wee Folk is absolutely the sweetest thing on earth.  Love at first sight...I think you'll love it too ;).

Here are a couple of cards I created using this irresistible kit.  Like magic I tell you....Betsy has a way of pulling images and patterns together that make creating such a joy.

I love making baby cards and the sweet images included in this set are priceless.  I used the Limitless Layers:  2 1/4" Hearts and Heart Stitches dies to create a focal point and accent for this baby boy card.  I stamped using Classic Kraft, Spring Moss, and Summer Sunrise ink.

My baby girl card uses more elements from the Wee Folk kit.  I've used one of the new Scene It:  Tag bases to create a focal point, and added Limitless Layers:  2 1/2" Circle dies and added my stamping and die cut images.  

I painted one of the wooden buttons in the kit with pink chalk paint, sanded it lightly, and added a bit of distress ink next.  My images were stamped in Autumn Rose, Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss, and Hibiscus Burst ink.

This kit is so hard to put down....I've got die cut images and paper out and ready to keep on creating.  You'll adore Wee Folk, just as I do.

introducing seeds of knowledge...

Hi again!  I hope your week is off to a great start :).  Today's Papertrey Ink group post focuses on the new Seeds of Knowledge stamp set, coordinating dies, and the darling Pencil Blooms die collection.  

I love the sweet sentiments included in the Seeds of Knowledge stamp set.  Must be because my mom was a school teacher and I have forever known that she was just the absolute best teacher ever :).  I love celebrating teachers and this set does just that.

My Seeds of Knowledge stamps and images are layered onto a die cut Tag Sale #2 cut using the new Pencil Me In paper collection.  This was then layered over a block of Sheer Basics Vellum and patterned paper.  I stamped my watering can in Aqua Mist and Spring Moss with my flowers stamped in Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Sweet Blush, and Melon Berry.  The flower stems (which are actually supposed to be used as water coming from the watering can), were stamped in Simply Chartreuse.

I love all of the tiny and well though out die cut pieces and images...just a really playful stamp set and I am always drawn to those.

I created a coordinating pencil bouquet using a painted mason jar (Krylon Celery...my favorite color), that I weathered a bit using sandpaper.  I used each of the Pencil Bloom dies for each flower layering them from smallest to largest.  

I gathered inspiration from this darling pencil bouquet.  Photo is from rescuedfromwastleland.etsy.com.

I then added either trim or ribbon below each bloom and then die cut Limeade Ice felt leaves cut using the Ruby Rose die.  These are so much fun to make....I think I'm kind of hooked :).

I wrapped each pencil in either washi tape of the Pencil Papers Adhesive Labels from Papertrey Ink and just added a bit of filling to secure my pencil bouquet in place.

I love, love, love this next sentiment so I created a coordinating tag using it that I attached to the mason jar.  It was also stamped using the Seeds of Knowledge stamp set and was stamped on a die cut Tag Sale #1 die.  I used Autumn Rose, Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, and Sweet Blush ink.

introducing pencil me in...

  

I'm back again for a colorful and fun group post for Papertrey Ink.  I mentioned in my previous post that this month the release is all about students, teachers, school, etc., so today's post will continue on in showcasing some of those new items.

I've used the new Pencil Pouch dies to create a Harvest Gold felt pouch to hold some sweet, custom wrapped pencils, using more new products such as the Pencil Papers Adhesive Labels Collection and the Pencil Me In stamp set.

I used hook and eye latches to secure my pencil pouch closed, but you could also use magnets, velcro, elastic and buttons, etc.  You'll notice the other methods used by the Design Team.

I embellished my pouch with die cut felt flowers in Vintage Cream, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, and Autumn Rose felt.  The centers stitched to the flowers are dies included in the Pencil Pouch die collection.  I also used Bitty Button Stacks and the Ruby Rose die collections.

I created a quick tag using the new Pencil Me In paper collection, the Tremendous Tags die, Pencil Me In stamp set, and the Framed Out #11 die cut using Aqua Mist felt.

Next up is a fun card that uses the new Pencil Me In stamp set and coordinating dies...talk about the cutest set ever!

I created a grid using my stamps and dies and filled in the spaces using images from Pencil Me In.  The "ABC" at the top uses the new Pencilgram stamp set.  I also used the new Number Clips die and added it in as an accent near the top.  It was cut from Luxe Metallic Silver cardstock.

Along the left edge I used the new Moments Inked:  Edged die and my background once again uses the new Pencil Me In paper collection....love it all :).

introducing shaker shapes: pencil dies, keep it simple: teacher, & number clips dies...

Hey there!  I'm here today sharing a few new soon-to-be released products from Papertrey Ink.  This month is all about school, teachers, etc. and Papertrey Ink has so many fun new things to inspire your creativity.

My first project uses the new Shaker Shapes:  Pencil dies to create a fun tag for the special teacher.  I've attached it to a popcorn box filled with homemade cookies.  This darling shaker die collection allows you two different sections or windows where you can choose to add shaker fixings :).  I filled the eraser portion of my shaker pencil with pink sequins.

And then I filled the body of the shaker pencil with die cut letters, cut using the Smooth Alphabet die collection.  The body of my shaker pencil was cut using the new Chicken Scratch Gingham Paper Collection. 

I die cut the metal band for my shaker pencil using Luxe Metallic Silver Cardstock and embellished with die cut Bitty Button Stack flowers cut from Autumn Rose felt.  I then stamped my sentiment using the new Keep it Simple:  Teacher stamp set on a die cut Double Ended Banner die.

My card uses the sweet Shaker Shapes:  Pencil die collection once again, this time mixing in sequins and die cut letters and numbers, stars, and even a couple of metal paper clips into the body of the pencil.

The Shaker Shapes:  Pencil dies come with tiny little letter and numbers that you can die cut and include however you choose.  And, I love the scribble die that creates some fun movement.

I once again used the Keep it Simple:  Teacher stamp set across the bottom of my card.  You'll notice a fun new product popping up here and there that will be introduced later, but it's got something to do with the fun lined paper you see here and on my next project :).  More Chicken Scratch Gingham paper used on this card as well.

And at the top, I used a new Number Clips die...these are irresistible!

My last project uses the Shaker Shapes:  Pencil die as a basic die instead of a shaker.  I mixed in patterned paper and Sheer Basics Vellum to create my tiny pencil and love that you can use this die collection in so many different ways.

I combined the pencil with a die cut Moments Inked:  Basic Pages die where I added stamping using the Apple Prints stamp set, a favorite of mine.  I added a die cut Double Ended Banner across the front stamped with Keep it Simple:  Teacher and attached it using another fun Number Clips die.

once upon a time...

Hello Friends!  Today's post reminds me of a dreamy fairytale with all things pink, dainty, ruffled, and sugared.  I've created a few things with the Ballerina Pink Shabby Paper-Crafting kit you can find in my etsy shop.

I love picking out trinkets and treasures that coordinate...things I love and hope that others will too.  I used the flower bouquet to dress up a shipping tag, added a patterned paper punched circle, washi tape, button, and twine, and a bit of stamping at the bottom.  I attached it to my popcorn box with a junk bow, created with items from the kit.

I love the darling pink polka dot popcorn box...just too cute for words.  I've added crepe paper tissue trim around the top, tiny roses waxed paper around the base, and then a Vintage Ballerina Flair Button at the bottom...all items included in the kit.

And, lastly...I dressed up the washi tape wrapped wooden spool found in the kit to create a tiny little pin cushion.  I added a paper flower to the top, trinket pins, another mini mushroom, and wrapped it in wired pom pom trim from the kit.  

I then created a base for my wooden spool by adhering a glittered chipboard flower and punched circle.  

 

A simple tag stamped and tied around the spool finished it off.  I used one of my favorite stamp sets from Papertrey Ink throughout my projects today.  It's the Embellishments stamp set and its lovely scroll and script is perfect for this fun paper-crafting kit.

hello sunshine...

Hey there Sunshines!  Has this Monday been good to you so far?  I'm a Monday lover, so yep...it's been a good day here.

My card today uses embellishments from the April OHDEERME Embellishment kit along with some fun Freckled Fawn Puffy Alphabet stickers....love them :).

The wood chip butterflies are part of the embellishment kit, but I added a bit of color by using my chalk paint on them and sanding the edges just a bit.  Love the cloud paperclip, the wide washi tape, the enamel hearts, and the rhinestone stickers...and there's more waiting for me to use on my next card, ha!  Never-ending, paper-crafting goodness :).  

I've got a shabby, sweet, pink paper-crafting kit up in my etsy shop.  Over the next couple of days, I'll be posting a few projects using contents of this fun kit.  

You'll find trims, ribbon, a pink popcorn box, wooden spool wrapped in washi, mini German cotton spun mushrooms, beautiful digital images from vintagebyme, shabby roses wax paper, chipboard, and all sorts of other trinkets and findings.

easter blessings...

Before the day is over, I wanted to pop in and express my love and gratitude for my Savior Jesus Christ and His life and resurrection.  We celebrate the bunnies, Easter eggs, and peeps...which I happen to love and enjoy immensely, but it is so much more.

With age, I am gaining perspective and a great appreciation for the truth, a deep love of my faith, and love beyond measure for my Savior and His atoning sacrifice for me, you, all of us.  It's miraculous, unconditional, and ever so beautiful.  His life was one of love, never-ending service, humility, charity, and every good thing that ever could be.  His love gives me hope, power to overcome my earthly frailties and weaknesses, eternal perspective, and plants in my heart the desire to do and be better with each new day I am given here.  I love Him so.  He has put the broken pieces of myself back together again.  He helps my heart heal.  He helps me find the beauty in my sorrows.  And, He never gives up on me.

With beauty, spring, and Easter on my mind, I created one last project for this time of year, using a pink mason jar, digital images from FrezeArt, tiny basket and eggs, millinery flowers, crepe paper tissue trim, scrunched seam binding, sequins, a junk bow, you know....all of the things I love.

My flair is from the Let Them Eat Cake (Pink) collection from A Flair for Buttons.  It is combined with Etched Easter Eggs stamp set and Etched Easter Eggs die from Papertrey Ink.

feather your nest...

Hello!  I hope you're having a beautiful week so far.  I certainly have.  It's Spring Break for my little girl here and we headed off to go visit my parents and my brothers and their families.  It was such a welcome treat.  Sure missed my Texas brother and his sweet little family though.

So the next few days will be catch up days, days for tidying up, clearing out the winter dust, and feathering the little nest we call home.  With Springtime upon us, I have a card perfectly suited for this time of year, created for Emma's Paperie.  We were challenged to incorporate watercoloring into our projects this month and so I pulled out my stamps, white embossing powder, and my Gelatos to create a watercolor background for this card.

 

I used Basic Grey, Prima, Bo Bunny Press, and Webster's Pages...I love the sentiment on this card.  All of the supplies used can be found HERE at Emma's Paperie.

Continuing on with the watercolor theme or look, this card was created for Basic Grey using some fun Hero Arts stamps and masks.  

I used a mask for my background and after securing it to a block of white cardstock, I applied a couple of different colors of spray mist from Studio Calico, and then added a bit of stamping and smudging using my Gelatos once again.

This is such a special weekend.  Easter weekend, the time we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ.  And to top that off, General Conference weekend, my most favorite occasion.  If your heart needs some cheering, or you are troubled in any way, I encourage you to tune in and let your heart be light.

love & marriage revisited...

Hello April!  I love this month as it my anniversary month...and I'm sure many others have this in common.  The Papertrey Ink Sr. Team Challenge is to revisit the Love & Marriage stamp set, which is perfect for this time of year.

 

I was in a watercolor kind of mood, so I've combined stamping with water for both of my projects today.  This first card uses the large heart from Love & Marriage to form a background.  I stamped my hearts in Aqua Mist, sweet Blush, Harvest Gold, Limeade Ice, and Summer Sunrise.  Then I gave my cardstock a spritz of water, and let the colors, blend, and run a bit.  While my cardstock was wet, I added flowers and leaves from the The Best is Yet To Be stamp set and let those colors take on the watercolor effect as well.

I then stamped my sentiment on a die cut banner using Summer Sunrise and layered on a diagonal over a stack of die cut hearts.  I used the Limitless Layers:  2 1/4" Hearts, Limitless Layers:  Heart Stitches, and Framed Out #11 dies.  

For my next card, I used the lovely tree image as my focal point.  I began by stamping it on a block of white cardstock using watermark ink.  I then embossed the image using Zing! Blush embossing powder.

After heat embossing, I added color to my tree using my ink pads and a water brush, just blending as I went along, using the same colors as in my first card.

I stamped my sentiment across the bottom along with the postage image from Love & Marriage, and added a die cut banner with an additional sentiment across my tree image.  

Wedding and anniversary cards are becoming favorites of mine to create and this set has everything you need to create a few to have on hand.
