Welcome to the first group post for Papertrey Ink's November release! Today we are sharing a beautiful floral with you called Better Together.
This set is perfect for trying out many different types of stamping and paper-crafting techniques. I've chosen to use paper-piecing on my first card, mixing and matching colors and patterns to form these fun, patchwork flowers. This is most definitely a tedious and time consuming technique, but one that I love and find really therapeutic :).
I used the darling new Leaf & Sprig Frames die on this card as well, adding distress ink to age it a bit, followed by watercolor pencils to add in some soft detail. The card base was created using the new Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical die and I stamped my sentiment on a Double Ended Banner die snipped in half and tucked under my flower. My flowers and part of my sentiment were stamped in Saffron Spice with the other portion of my sentiment stamped in Pale Peony. The center of my card consists of book print with Sheer Basics Vellum layered of the top.
Next up, I used the Better Together stamp set and dies with the new Inspired: Mercy stamp set and die. This lovely floral set goes so well with lots of different things and is suitable for all sorts of occasions. Once again I used a page from an old book and stamped my Better Together floral image on it with watermark ink, then heat embossed it using gold embossing powder.
I then die cut a few flowers and leaves from vellum, stamping and heat embossing them in gold as well. They are layered over a Leaf & Sprig Frame cut from Kraft cardstock, and a block of vellum, stamped using the Inspired: Mercy stamp set and heat embossed in white.
I used white glittered cardstock and the Inspired: Mercy die to complete my sentiment, then just added a few sequins and Rainstones.
Lastly, I used watercolor cardstock and my Zig watercolor markers with the Better Together stamp set. Like I said earlier, this set is so much fun to use with many different techniques.
I stamped my sentiment in Autumn Rose on a die cut Basic Bookmark 3. I then stamped a few florals from Better Together in Spring Moss on the edges of my bookmark.
To finish I added die cut vines, cut using the Fancy Foliage dies and pink glittered cardstock.
This is such a playful, happy, must have stamp set....you'll love it!

So gorgeous, especially that first paper-pieced number. I would never have the patience to do it, so I'm so happy that I get to visit your blog any time I want to see your beautiful work.

You certainly had a lot of therapy with your first card, Melissa! I cannot believe that you had the patience to cut out and glue down all of those little pieces of paper, but it was so worth the effort. The stunning gold embossing should not work with plain and practical kraft, but they set each other off perfectly. And then there's Autumn Rose, how lovely. It was a most wonderful visit here today. Thank you, Melis.
